1. How much will a performance cost?
For Lucy's pricing structure, click here. However, please feel free to contact Lucy to discuss tailoring a performance package to suit your needs.
2. What does a show include?
It depends on the length of the show and what the client's wishes are; however, Lucy's shows generally include all of the following:
a. Intro with veil
b. Pop song - this can include getting people up to dance
c. Cane piece
d. Drum solo
e. Finale
3. I don't know much about bellydance, but I think it sounds cool. Will I still have fun watching a show? What about my parents/kids/friends - is bellydance "family friendly" enough for everybody?
Don't worry - Lucy doesn't bite. :) Seriously, Lucy's goal first and foremost is to provide you, the client, with an entertaining evening and a good time. Her style is suitable for all ages (so no need to worry about her embarrassing you or your friends). Don't be afraid to ask questions; Lucy is very approachable, and she's happy to tell you everything you need to know about what to expect in a performance.
4. What do you need to know when I call to book an event?
When contacting Lucy to book a performance, please have the following information ready:
a. Address and telephone number of the performance venue.
b. Who the audience will be, and an approximate headcount of how many people will be attending.
c. What the event is (birthday party? wedding?)
5. How do I pay?
In order to confirm a booking, you will need to send Lucy a deposit of $75, either via Paypal or by check or money order sent to her by mail - send an email to lucydances@gmail.com for the address). This deposit is refundable up until two weeks before the event, at which point it is non-refundable unless Lucy has to cancel. Be assured that she will only do so in the event of extreme illness or family emergency. The remainder of the fee may be paid in advance by Paypal, or at the time of the performance with cash or corporate checks. Sorry, no personal checks accepted on the performance date.
6. What do you need to perform?
a. Clean, dry dance surface clear of food, liquids, etc.
b. Private dressing area (restroom will suffice).
c. Access to restroom and running water.
d. Complete directions for and map to performance location.
e. Name and phone number of contact person, if different than person booking the event.
f. Payment, in full, at the time Lucy arrives at the venue.
7. What if I want more than one dancer, or live music?
Lucy would be happy to arrange for additional dancers or musicians for your event. Please allow at least two weeks' notice, however; most dancers and musicians book their schedules weeks, if not months, in advance, so you may be disappointed if you wait until the last minute.
8. Is tipping okay?
Absolutely, as long as it's done in a respectful way. There are several ways to tip belly dancers, including tips in the dancer's costume (hip belt or bra strap - no funny business!) and the traditional Arab practice of tossing bills over the performer's head. For more information about tipping and how to be a good audience member, look here.
10. Will you perform for my bachelor party/kegger/fraternity party?
Sorry, but no. Lucy's style is family-friendly, and she does not perform for any all-male audiences.
11. Do you teach?
Lucy only teaches private lessons to advanced students at this time. Please contact Lucy for more information.
